SCENT REVIEW: VARIETY OF PLEASING AMUSEMENTS
Honey, leather, tobacco, and myrrh. In the bottle: Dear God, it’s the same smoky note that slayed me in the cases of Philologus and Agnes Nutter. Oh dear. I’m already having trepidations about this one. Immediately: Tobacco. Leafy but dry, earthy, and a little smoky (perhaps from the myrrh). That’s honestly all I’m getting. Fifteen minutes: After a few minutes, Tobacco decided they didn’t want...

SCENT REVIEW: THE VINE
Bradford pear, honey, and vanilla cream. In bottle: Pear! But not a cold, regal pear. This is a warm, ripe pear waiting to be eaten, and maaaaaaybe there’s honey open on the counter. Immediately: Same on my skin as in the bottle: sweet and fruity. There’s slightly more honey on my skin, but this is still largely The Pear Show. Still waiting on the vanilla cream… Fifteen minutes: This pear...

SCENT REVIEW: EL DIA DE LOS REYES 2009
Hot cocoa with cinnamon, coffee, and brown sugar. Previous scents: Dove deodorant. In the bottle: Yum. A deliciously cinnamon-flavored rich hot chocolate. Wow, this is amazing and foody. Glad I shook it before I put it on, though, because I suspect that the chocolate settles over time. Testing method: Knocked the vial twice against the inside of my left wrist, then rubbed wrists together....

SCENT REVIEW: #OCCUPYWALLSTREET
This is a filthy friggin’ patchouli, dark, deep, rooty, and strangely sexy, with cocoa absolute, tobacco absolute, and bourbon vanilla. Previous scents: Dove deodorant. In the bottle: Something sharp. I can’t smell anything besides something metallic. Testing method: Two swipes of the wand against the inside of my left wrist. Immediately: Phwoar. What the hell is that? Fifteen minutes:...

SCENT REVIEW: MI-GO BRAIN CANISTER
Note: This is a general Limited Edition scent that was only available in April of 2005. I just acquired my bottle, which means this review is of an aged Mi-Go Brain Canister. A soothing yet stimulating blend of pink pepper, peony, jasmine, mango, kiwi, pomegranate, pineapple, white ginger, serene white tea and light musks. Previous scents: Dove deodorant. In the bottle: What in the world. This...

SCENT REVIEW: OPS
Note: This is a blend from the November 2010 Will-Call event. No official description is available. Previous scents: Dove shampoo and deodorant. In the bottle: Citrusy and sweet. I can already tell I’m going to adore this. Testing method: Three swipes of the wand against the inside of both wrists. Immediately: This is a very rich orange-lemon, citrusy spice cake. Ah mah gah. Is it possible for me...
